Ras Al Khaimah – Where Mountains, Myths, and Memories Meet

My journey to Ras Al Khaimah felt like entering a completely different world within the UAE—a world where ancient forts meet rugged mountains, and adrenaline rushes collide with peaceful retreats. With Qalb Al Sahraa Tourism leading the way, I discovered that this northern Emirate offers more than just natural beauty; it offers stories, serenity, and some serious adventure.
We began the day with the Ras Al Khaimah City Tour, a perfect introduction to this charming and historically rich emirate. Our guide gave us glimpses of the past while driving through old souks, quiet coastal towns, and streets framed by the towering Hajar Mountains in the distance.
Our first big stop was Jebel Jais—the UAE’s highest peak. The winding drive up the mountain offered breathtaking views at every turn. As we ascended, the temperature cooled, the landscape turned wild, and the excitement in my chest grew. From the viewing deck, the panoramic views were nothing short of majestic—jagged cliffs, winding roads, and endless sky.
But the real thrill came next: the Jais Flight Zipline, the world’s longest. Harnessed and ready, I soared above the mountain valleys like a falcon, reaching speeds I never imagined. It was an exhilarating, unforgettable rush—and surprisingly peaceful, gliding over deep ravines and rocky terrain.
Still buzzing with adrenaline, we slowed things down at Jais Sledder, a fun ride with sweeping views and smooth curves that’s great for families and thrill-seekers alike. Short but sweet, it offered a fun way to enjoy the mountain from a new perspective.
To connect with the region’s past, we visited the Dhayah Fort, an ancient military tower perched high on a hilltop. Climbing the steps was worth every effort. From the summit, I could see date farms, the sea, and the surrounding desert—all once protected by this historic stronghold. It was a moment of awe and reflection.
We then headed to Al Marjan Island, a stunning man-made stretch of beach resorts, cafes, and calm waters. It felt luxurious but laid-back, perfect for a stroll or a peaceful afternoon by the sea. Watching the horizon from this island retreat was nothing short of calming.
Next, we ventured into nature at Wadi Shawka, a hidden gem in the mountains ideal for hikers and campers. We didn’t do a full trek, but even the short walk through this peaceful wadi revealed pools of water, rock formations, and a refreshing stillness that felt worlds away from city life.
To relax even more, we visited the Khatt Springs, a natural hot spring spa set against the backdrop of the mountains. The warm mineral-rich waters were soothing, and the setting—surrounded by palm trees and old stone buildings—made it feel like a desert oasis.
For a deeper understanding of the region, we stopped by the Ras Al Khaimah National Museum, located in a 19th-century fort. The exhibits offered a fascinating look into the local lifestyle, traditional architecture, and the emirate’s trading history. It was like opening a time capsule.
Before heading back, we made one last stop at Manar Mall, a modern shopping and leisure destination. With waterfront views, international stores, and plenty of dining options, it was the perfect place to relax, refuel, and reflect on a day full of discovery.
Ras Al Khaimah is a place of contrast and character—ancient and modern, rugged and luxurious, tranquil and thrilling. It’s where you can zipline through the skies one moment and soak in healing waters the next. With Qalb Al Sahraa Tourism, I didn’t just see the mountains—I felt the spirit of a land that welcomes you with adventure, history, and heart.
